Why does Instagram block hashtags?
Instagram has a few reasons as to why they block hashtags and the mainly do so to keep the users in line with the Instagram Community Guidelines. It is important to realize that using any of the banned hashtags listed above can get your Instagram account banned. Here are a couple of the reasons why Instagram blocks hashtags.
- Sharing photos or videos you did not take, or for which you have no right to share
- Posting photos or videos that contain nudity in the form of genitals, intercourse, or full-buttock close-ups.
- Avoiding comments, likes, follows, or shares by bots and making repetitive contact with people for commercial purposes.
- Using Instagram to participate in hate groups, organized crime, and terrorism. Advertising sexual services, the buying or selling of firearms, and illicit drug use will also get you banned from the platform.
- A blatant show of disrespect for other members of Instagram.
- Posting content that glorifies self-inflicted injury.
- Posting graphic pictures or videos of newsworthy events that have no captions or warnings about the severity of the content.
