How Roof Right Earned a 273% Return on Organic Search: A Maryland Roofing SEO Case Study

Brief Rundown

  • Who: Roof Right, a family-owned roofing and exterior remodeling company serving Maryland homeowners since 1994
  • Starting point: a 12-page website where every new page cost $100
  • What we did: rebuilt the site on WordPress with a page for every service, then added local roofing landing pages across Carroll, Baltimore, and Howard County
  • Result: in 2026, organic search has produced a 273% return on investment for Roof Right

Most roofing contractors we talk to have the same problem. They know homeowners search Google for a new roof, but their website is a handful of pages that never shows up.

Roof Right was in that spot when we started working together in 2018. Eight years later, organic search has returned 273% on their investment in 2026 alone. Here is how we got there, what we would do the same way again, and what any roofing company can take from it.

A Family-Owned Roofing Company Serving Carroll, Baltimore, and Howard County Since 1994

Roof Right is a family-owned roofing and exterior remodeling company that has served Maryland homeowners since 1994. Their work covers residential roof replacement and repair, commercial flat roofing, emergency roof tarping, and exterior projects like siding, windows, doors, and gutters.

Our relationship with Roof Right started before MarketKeep did. Patrick first worked with Joseph Anderson, Roof Right’s sales manager at the time, before leaving to start his own agency. In 2018, Roof Right moved its digital marketing to MarketKeep, and we have managed it since.

Why a 12-Page Roofing Website at $100 Per Page Held Roof Right Back

When we started, Roof Right had a simple 12-page website, and their web developer charged $100 for every new page. That pricing model quietly caps a contractor’s growth.

A roofing company does not offer one service. It offers a dozen, and homeowners search for each one differently. Someone with a leak after a storm searches for emergency roof repair. Someone planning ahead searches for roof replacement cost. A property manager searches for TPO or flat roof repair. Google ranks the page that best answers each of those searches, so a business needs a page for each one.

When every page has a price tag and a waiting period, owners stop adding them. Twelve pages could never cover Roof Right’s services, let alone the towns they serve.

Rebuilding Roof Right’s WordPress Website Around Every Roofing and Exterior Service

Our first move was a new WordPress website that Roof Right owns outright, with a dedicated page for every service they offer. Adding a page became part of the strategy instead of a line item on an invoice.

The service pages covered:

  • Residential roofing: roof replacement, roof repair, and roof maintenance
  • Commercial roofing: PVC flat roofs, metal, EPDM, TPO, and silicone roof coatings
  • Emergency roofing: storm damage and roof tarping
  • Roofing components: attic insulation, roof ventilation, chimney flashing, copper flashing, chimney caps, and cupolas
  • Exteriors: siding, windows, doors, skylights, shutters, and gutters

Each page answers the questions a homeowner or property manager asks about that one service. That gives Google a clear page to rank for each search, instead of one services page trying to rank for everything.

Local Roofing Landing Pages for Sykesville, Ellicott City, and Northern Baltimore County

With the service pages in place, we built local landing pages across Roof Right’s service area: Carroll County, Northern Baltimore County, and parts of Howard County, including Ellicott City, Columbia, West Friendship, and Sykesville.

The goal was to put Roof Right in front of homeowners searching for a roofer in their own town. Someone in Sykesville searching for a roof replacement wants a company that works in Sykesville, not one that lists forty towns in a footer.

We did not build these by copying one page and swapping the city name. That approach is exactly what Google’s Helpful Content Update targets. Each town page covers the services that community actually calls Roof Right for, along with the completed projects Roof Right has done there.

What Happens When a Roofing Website Grows From 12 Pages to 518

Eight years of steady publishing changed the problem. Roof Right’s website now has 518 published pages, including 397 blog articles and 280 completed project pages.

That volume is a sign of real work, but it creates a new risk. When several pages cover nearly the same topic, they compete with each other for the same search, and Google has to guess which one to rank.

So the current phase is consolidation. We are restructuring the service area pages into one roofing company page per town, with Roof Right’s services differentiated inside each one, and folding overlapping blog content into the pages it supports. More pages got Roof Right here. Fewer, stronger pages are what keep it growing.

Roof Right’s Organic Search Results: Traffic, Leads, and a 273% Return

In 2026, organic search has produced a 273% return on investment for Roof Right. That figure compares revenue from deals Roof Right closed in 2026 that came from organic search, tracked through call tracking and form submissions, against their SEO investment over the same period. The rankings behind that number are easy to check: search “roof replacement carroll county” and Roof Right shows up twice on page one, in the map pack and as the first organic result.

The pages we built from 2018 on laid the groundwork. Over the last two years, that groundwork has turned into rankings, traffic, and leads.

Roof Right’s Organic Traffic Growth From 2021 to 2026

Ahrefs estimates Roof Right’s monthly organic traffic stayed under roughly 1,000 visits from 2021 through early 2024. After the site grew past 450 crawled pages in late 2024 estimated traffic climbed steadily, reaching about 4,500 visits a month by February 2026.

The chart also shows the consolidation phase at work. In early 2026, crawled pages dropped from about 600 to about 450, and organic traffic kept rising.

What Roof Right’s Former Sales Manager Says About Working With MarketKeep

“MarketKeep in Baltimore County, Maryland is a fantastic company. I worked with Patrick, the owner of market keep prior to him branching off and starting his own company. We made the switch to Market Keep and saw tremendous gains in every KPI from website traffic, engagement, lowering cost per lead and form submissions. I am not an IT person nor have a background in all of the different analytic tools but Patrick is very patient in explaining everything and what it means to our business. MarketKeep felt like an extension of the business and couldn’t be happier with the results!”

What Maryland Roofing Contractors Can Learn From Roof Right’s SEO Growth

  1. Own a website where adding pages is easy. If every new page costs money and a week of waiting, your site will never grow to match your services.
  2. Give every service its own page. Roof replacement, flat roof repair, and emergency tarping are different searches from different customers.
  3. Make every town page different. Write about the services and projects that matter in that community, not a template with the city swapped in.
  4. Turn finished jobs into pages. Completed project pages show Google, and homeowners, that you actually work in their town. See how completed projects help contractors rank higher.
  5. Prune as you grow. Past a few hundred pages, consolidating overlapping content does more than publishing another post.
